Day 21 and Beyond

FB_IMG_1543882138265How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

The world may never know…

Day zero: Insanity ensued.

Day one: Okay, let’s just take a moment to breathe.

Day two: Trying to process what has happened.

Day three: Uncertainty looms

Day four: A likely outcome awaits, but can’t quite reach it.

Day five: Snowed in. No answers yet.

Day six: Long drives, little sleep, what gives…

Day seven: A week now it’s been, any answers would be nice…

Day eight: Pay the piper day for a young man.

Day nine: Plans cancelled, day feels like a loss, but makes the best of it.

Day ten: Crickets chirp.

Day eleven: Honoring a great man that fought to break race barriers and end race wars.

Day twelve: Keep on driving….

Day thirteen: Work hard, get things done.

Day fourteen: We just want to know how to proceed. Driving gets tiresome.

Day fifteen: Still driving.

Day sixteen: Family day.

Day seventeen: Winter, feel free to go home…

Day eighteen: Day off, yet not quite.

Day nineteen: Answers at long last!!!!

Day twenty: Today, we work on moving forward.

Day twenty-one and beyond: We shall see where our paths take us…..

The world may not know exactly what our days ahead look like, I sure don’t. What I do know though is that they will be days filled with love. We’ll face hard times and struggle, I’m sure of that too. We will laugh and have great days. Life is full of ups and downs. Through them all, we’ll face them as a family. I’m looking forward to day 21 and beyond.

Dear Future Me

pastpresentfuture

So many of us have imagined what we’d say to younger versions of ourselves if we got the chance. Oh the advice we’d give, the wisdom we’d share. Perhaps then we’d have avoided some of the hard times?

I, myself, have written such letters to versions of myself that are long gone. But today, I wondered what I might say to a future versions of myself, were I given the opportunity to meet her. Might it go something like this….

Dear Future Me,

You don’t exist yet, but I’m hoping that when you do and you get the chance to read this that you’ll take what I have to say to heart.

So far, you have spent so much time worrying, over analyzing things, focusing on things that don’t matter in the grand scheme of things, and dwelling on what was instead of what is and what could be. Let me say this, stop. Life is too short to stress so much. If you’re here, able to read this, take a moment to count your blessings and then go out and make the most of the time you have.

How many sleepless nights have you spent worrying about things that worked themselves out in the end? How many times have you needlessly panicked? Let’s not focus so much on what is out of our control or sweat the small things.

Instead, let’s shape the moments we can into ones full of love and laughter. Give when you can. When the hard times come, remember you’ve gotten through worse and push forward believing this too is another hurdle we’ll get over. You may roll your eyes at this, but deep down you know there’s wisdom in what I’m telling you.

Things won’t always be sunshine and roses and nor will they always be dark and depressing. There’s light and dark throughout every stage in life. Find courage in the tough times, let wisdom grace you, and learn from them. Find joy in the wonderful moments, may love touch you, and may you let it do the same for others.

You’ve made it this far, keep going! I believe in you, as do many others. Here’s to tomorrow letting us see its wondrous beauty and all it has in store.

Sincerely,

The you you once knew

*What would you tell the you of tomorrow?*

A World Offline

20160716_150302

The internet doesn’t get vacation days

All across the world, we plug in and tune out

Games, blogs, & pictures, it’s hard to stay away

Even now, I sit here on my laptop with doubt

Remember when we ventured outside to explore?

As great as the online world can sometimes be

Isn’t there a life outside of it that means more?

More than words on a screen for all to see

I go through spurts of heavy world wide web presence

And ones completely unplugged from it all

Trying to find a healthy balance between them, in essence

Sometimes it’s not easy to do and I hit a wall

I try to remember to take a break now and then

To get face to face time, each day create a beautiful memory

To enjoy fully the life that I have before it’s taken

And with that said, it’s time to unplug and be free

The World of Technology

Image

Oh what a wondrous thing it is, this thing we call technology

From advancements in science to keeping us in touch with those overseas

It has helped us as a race do so many great things, surely that’s easy to see

Though I also believe that many have become too dependent on it, even me

As it is, I am online right now instead of reading something noteworthy

Or being outside, looking at all of nature’s beauty

Spending time with my dear sweet friend photography

Capturing the sheer magnificence of His creations such as a rose or a maple tree

Though I have taken breaks from forming these words in my head to play with our puppy

She is an adorable creature, let me introduce you to her, her name is Lucy

I watched her play in the snow & I have watched as it’s fallen upon me

Unable to truly forget the splendor of all He’s made, that is key

Spending time online, listening to an iPod, or even just playing a game on the Wii

It has it’s place, especially when one thinks of all technology does to keep us alive & healthy

But it is good for us all to remember that there is a world outside of that, to not a slave to it be

And to cherish all that is surrounds us, most especially our friends & family

Brangien Illuminated

I am Brangien [Brangaine] of Weisefort, Ireland, lady-in-waiting to my cousin Isolde, who became promised to King Marc of Cornwall. His nephew Tristan escorted us to England by ship. But Tristan and Isolde fell in love at sea. As ye may know, or will find out, they cite the philter they drank as the cause, over which I was supposed to keep vigil. I would like to share my perspective of how I have created good in the world through my herbs and observations. There is much to tell, including how I have adopted this odd language. In good time. My life is in God’s hands. –Inspired by the modern French translations of the Tristan and Isolde texts
