Dreamer, Take Flight

Capture-2

Hey there, Claralynn

Do you see that man over there?

The one playing the violin

Can you feel his music fill the air?

A bittersweet melody he plays

All who are near stop and stare

The clatter and chatter part ways

This man and his bow have such flair

I see your eyes grow heavier as his songs fly

Are you falling asleep, Claralynn?

His sweet music is taking you to a land in the clouds and sky

Where the world is your own is where your dreams begin.

Sing Me a Song

20160609_193652

My daughter, Claralynn loves to be sung to and listening to music in general. I’m humbled by the fact that she loves not only the music we play for her in the cd player, but also the music I sing to her, well known songs and ones I made up on the spot.

This is the one I made up today….

Sweet baby girl

Sleepy baby girl

You want to close your eyes

You’ve grown weary

But you don’t want to miss a thing

So you fight and fight

As your eyes grow heavy

Sweet baby girl

Sleepy baby girl

Follow the path to dream land

The world will be here when you wake

I know you don’t want to miss a thing

I see you fight and fight

As your eyes grow heavier still

Sweet baby girl

Sleepy baby girl

You’ve fallen fast asleep

What do you dream about

I wonder as I look at your sweet face

Soon you’ll wake from your slumber

And your eyes will be alert and ready to journey once more. ♡

♡ And hey, she’s been asleep for over two hours. There’s something beautiful and heartwarming in watching your child sleep. ♡

What’s in a Name?

a186f5fca0a18c195ff3db8ac969ce2c

How did you come up with your children’s names? I’m curious to know! My son’s first name is a biblical name that means, Remembered by the Lord and I thought would be encouraging throughout his life and I also love the name, just the sound of saying it makes me smile. His middle name is also biblical, but I chose it simply because I like it. Zachariah Matthias suits him, I think. 🙂 Claralynn is a combination of two names. Clara was my grandma’s name, my dad’s mom. She passed away last September. She was a light for many and not just in our family, but in the community and at church as well. I didn’t know her well, but others told me about her through the years. Lynn was Doug’s mom’s middle name. I never met her, as she passed away a month after we’d started dating and I hadn’t met anyone in his family yet. But, I’ve heard so much about her and just by knowing my husband, his sisters, her siblings, her parents, and Phil, I can really see how wonderful she was, how she’d touched so many people. I wanted to honor both of these incredible women. Her middle name is Marie and that is both my mother’s and mine as well. I wanted to give her a piece of both of us as well. So again, what inspired your children’s names? ♡ And hey, pet parents, feel free to chime in also. They’re your kids too! Onyx came to me when I was in the pet store. Black as Midnight, but I wanted his name to be a bit more unique, just as I did for my son and daughter. ♡

Dream Big

1720611091-baby-girl-quotes-dream-big-15

Little girl, asleep in your swing

After a rousing go of tummy time

And a nice filling meal

You look so at peace with the world

You know nothing about its troubles

You don’t hate, criticize, or judge

No barriers separate you from love

I wish that was the world I could give you forever

Beautiful dreamer, I watch you with adoration

I can’t keep you from all harm

But I can teach you how to love

And to take care of yourself

May all who know you teach you well

From spelling to math and art also

May you have the passion to learn

All the days of your life

And I pray you grow up to be all you dream of being

Dream big and fight hard for them

But never stepping on others to achieve those aspirations

Knowing the value of hard work, but also a kind and humble heart

Whatever you grow up to be

Know I’ll always love and believe in you

I see you all grown up for just a moment

But then, I look again and see my sleeping baby girl

My words are still the same

Dream big, baby girl

Even if it might be about cuddles and songs

Just be the you that you’re meant to be all day long

40 Weeks

40 Weeks

You realize your period is late

The emotions run wild within

Could I be pregnant or is there something else going on?

And if I am pregnant, how do I feel about this?

You take the test and in no time, the results are in

That little plus sign tells you what you needed to know

So now where do we go from here?

Tears erupt and your thoughts run wild

Your life has changed dramatically within moments

It’s not just about you now, but also about the life within you

What an amazing and frightening thought

A life is growing inside of you!

At first the changes are small

Much like the baby growing inside of you

But then they begin to progress

And soon enough, the miracle within you is easy to see

40 weeks is the time frame we’re given

Each week, new things happen for both of you

As they grow, so do you

To provide nourishment and room for them

When you have your first ultrasound

There’s no more denying how real this is

The doctor has you take a listen to their tiny and rapid heartbeat

This is really happening!

And then nearing week 20 or so

You begin to feel them move

It’s a life altering moment

One that can’t be properly described in words alone

As the weeks roll on, the doctors run various tests

They feel, measure, and keep tabs on both of you

All the while, you’re hoping nothing goes wrong

Hoping your child is happy and healthy

Baby showers and other preparations are being made

For one so tiny, you find you need quite a bit for them

From clothes and diapers to the crib and car seat

You’re trying to make sure you have all they’ll need

You’re well into your third trimester now

And hopefully feeling more at ease about their well being

Torn between waiting for them to finish growing

And wanting to hold them in your arms right now

Week 40 is nearly here, if you haven’t delivered already

And you’ve gone from counting down the weeks to days

Part of you is so ready to have your baby already

And part of you is scared, even if it’s not your first child

But then the day arrives, the day you’re to meet your baby

The pain is intense and you are just ready for it to be over

You wonder how you’ll make it through this

The emotional roller coaster you’re on is pretty wild

But then the time arrives, your child is here

You hear their cries and now you’re in tears too

They wipe your baby off and place them in your arms

And suddenly, all is right in the world

When it started, 40 weeks felt like years

A period of time that would stretch on for a life age

But then as you look at your child’s precious face

You realize that was only the beginning.

Children Caught in the Middle

children

My personal view is that children should never be put in the middle of their parent’s disputes. They also should not have to suffer because the parents have issues with one another. I have seen too many kids I know go through these things and it’s a horrible thing to put your children through.

It doesn’t matter if the other parent cheated on you, doesn’t want to be with you anymore, wasn’t the greatest boyfriend/girlfriend or wife/husband, etc. Your mistakes made against one another should not be taken out on the kids. If there’s violence or neglect, real reasons to worry about your kid’s safety and well being, that’s one thing. But, to simply to deny one parent time with their kids, to talk down about the other parent to the kids, etc is not okay. If both parents love their children and are doing all they can to be there for them, then they should both be a part of their lives. Put your differences aside, it’s not about you and how you were wronged. It’s about the kids, period.

Also, I have an issue with people who assume it’s either always the women who are keeping the fathers from their kids. It’s not always the men who are struggling to see their kids. Sometimes, it’s the women who are fighting the fathers and it’s happening more and more now. Personally, I am against blaming just men or women for the bad things that happen. Both are quite capable of causing pain and are equally guilty. Point blank, no parent should keep their children from the other parent without good cause. And again, proper cause means that your children are being harmed or neglected in their care, not just because they pissed you off, left you, etc. Being a good partner and parent do not always go hand in hand. Someone can be lousy at dating or being a good partner, but be a great parent. And sometimes, it was just the relationship between the two of you. Sometimes people are just toxic to one another, but when they find the right person, things change. That is neither here nor there when it comes to this post though.

I will also add more to the thought, do not talk badly about the other parent in front of the kids. If there is reason for them to think poorly of them, the kids will see it for themselves. Our opinions should not be forced upon the kids, ever. Kids are not as clueless as we think sometimes. They see and hear more than we realize and will be able to decide for themselves how to feel. Concentrate on your own relationship with them, the rest will figure itself out. It’s hard enough being a part of a split home, don’t make things harder on them. Do not put them in the middle, let them be number one to both of you.

(My 13 year old son has been in the middle between his dad and I for most of his life and seeing what’s it done to him is a huge reason I made this post. I speak from experience.)

Brangien Illuminated

I am Brangien [Brangaine] of Weisefort, Ireland, lady-in-waiting to my cousin Isolde, who became promised to King Marc of Cornwall. His nephew Tristan escorted us to England by ship. But Tristan and Isolde fell in love at sea. As ye may know, or will find out, they cite the philter they drank as the cause, over which I was supposed to keep vigil. I would like to share my perspective of how I have created good in the world through my herbs and observations. There is much to tell, including how I have adopted this odd language. In good time. My life is in God’s hands. –Inspired by the modern French translations of the Tristan and Isolde texts
