Happy Anniversary & Other Such Things

Today is my wedding anniversary!! First, I’ll say that it’s a day worth celebrating. Four years ago today, I pledged my everlasting love to my now hubby in front of God and many of our family members and friends. It was a beautiful day, both due it being one full of love and weather wise as well. Joyous definitely describes our wedding day.

Over the last four years since we said, I do, and even before then, we’ve faced a lot together. We’ve lost loved ones, faced financial issues, dealt with illnesses and injuries, and other things that have put strain on us. We’ve also laughed, enjoyed lots of time with friends and family, experienced great things, and created many amazing memories. Throughout the good and bad, here we are, still standing together. That’s what a team does, sticks together through it all.

So yes, for my hubby and I, today is definitely a day worth smiling about. It’s also my friend Ashley’s birthday. I remember telling her when the date was set that it fell on her birthday, wasn’t sure how she’d feel about it. She told me she was honored to share her special day with us. Yay! So today, I also say, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ASHLEY!!! I hope today is full of joy and love for you, dear friend!!

I’m sure today is special for others as well. Others are likely celebrating their wedding anniversaries and birthdays. I am willing to wager that it’s also a day for signing paperwork to get keys to their new home, starting/started a new job, made a big move, started dating, stopped smoking, and more. Today is a day for many to smile and I’m happy to share in this joy with all of you.

Today is also likely a day that’s hard for some. Some lost people they love, lost jobs, got into a life changing car accident, found out they’re ill, and other heartbreaking things. My heart weeps for those that hurt today. I know that while we celebrate today, others aren’t, that others have reason to be sad. Life goes on around us, through the good and bad we face, others do their own thing.

Today too, my son has court for some poor decisions he’s made. It is hard to watch my brilliant son throw his future to the wind. He’s starting to see he wants so much and he needs to make some changes, but he’s still being stubborn, fighting it some. I hope he gets a wake-up call and starts to really fight for his future. May today end up being the beginning to a brighter future for him.

No matter what today is for you, I hope you find some joy. Even if today is sad, it brings hard times, may you find at least one reason to smile. If not, if it’s just too hard today, maybe tomorrow? My thoughts and prayers are with the world today, all who struggle, mourn, and worry. It’s also with those who laugh, smile, and celebrate. Whatever today is, at least it is. We’ve been given another day and that is cause to celebrate.

Happy Birthday, Mike!

Image

On this day in the good year of 1982

My brother Mike was born, so today he’s 32

I would like to take just a few moments to say

To my younger brother, Happy Birthday!

We haven’t always gotten along, many know this to be true

But it hasn’t changed for one moment just how much I love you

For all you have accomplished in your life, you should be proud

I know that I am & here I proclaim that for all to hear clear & loud

So I have this one last thing that I would like to say

Bear with me for just a few moments longer, okay?

May this day be full of laughter & joy, like none other

Happy Birthday to you Mike, my dear brother!

Birthday Celebrations Are NOT Just For Kids. ;)

I turn 35 on the 18th of this month and I find that I am just as excited for my birthday as I was when I was a kid. Some argue that when you become an adult that birthday parties should be a thing of the past. Some feel that there just isn’t a reason to celebrate like there was when you were a child. I disagree and in fact, I feel there are many more reasons to celebrate. I have a handsome son who is so intelligent, talented, witty, and someone I am so proud of. I finally have a good relationship with my mom and now my dad and I are talking more as well. I have such amazing aunts, uncles, cousins, and still have two very loving grandmothers. I have five awesome nephews and one incredibly adorable niece. I have the most wonderful boyfriend on the planet and thank God for him every single day. I have a job, a place to call home, a working vehicle, and so much more. I am doing something with my writing, have a beautiful voice that I am finally brave enough to use, and am doing more with my photography. There are so many things in my life worth celebrating. And, I also feel that I am a person worth celebrating too! Also, I love spending time with my friends and family. The most special part of my birthday is being able to bring so many people I love together and in that time, we can celebrate life and love. Over the next week, I will get to see family and friends and this makes me happier than any present could ever make me. I think that you’re never too old to celebrate your birthday; it’s just that the celebrations change as we get older. ❤

I suppose it’s time for an update, eh? ;)

What a week it’s been! Job hunting, even had an interview, getting things set for Grandma’s next appointment, planning for Doug’s birthday, doing some work for Doug’s dad, cleaning up more after Grandma, etc etc has kept me fairly busy.

I have a couple of job leads, as I often do, and as I also often do, am praying that one of those leads results in a job offer. I wouldn’t mind either of the jobs and would have people I know and love at both places. Keep those prayers coming! 🙂

The next step for Grandma is the financial meeting which has been scheduled for this Thursday, got the call to make arrangements for it today. We will take a good look at her finances, see what her money can do, what help can be given to her, and how to make it all work out. My mom and one uncle will be here too, here’s hoping for some positive answers.

Doug’s birthday was yesterday and it was a successful one. I made him a home cooked meal, did all the cleaning up, we then took about a two mile walk, enjoyed some of the Oreo pie I made, played some Phase 10, and watched Robin Williams: Live On Broadway. It doesn’t sound too eventful, eh? But he’s not the let’s go party type, he prefers to keep things simple. At the end of the day, he was happy, so I was happy. 🙂

Soon, in just weeks, he will be moving into his house and my son and I will be joining him. This is a new journey, a path previewed, but there is still so much we’ve yet to see, to learn. We are excited about this though, feel that it’s the next step, and that we’re ready to take it. The house isn’t that big, but as Doug said, “It’s big enough for us.” We’ve been talking about where to shop for furniture, how we want things to be arranged, etc. It’s so exciting! I know that once the newness wears off that reality will set in. We’ll get annoyed with little habits and such, but we’re fully committed to making this work as we have everything else, with a lot of compromise, communication, remembering to respect one another, and of course…our love for God, and for one another. This is going to be a good thing for us as a family and I look forward to seeing where the road takes us from here.

I hope all is well in the land of WordPress. I pray that many exciting and wonderful things have been going on for each of you. No matter how long I might be away from time to time, I don’t ever forget about the friends I have made on here. Again, thank you for the support and friendships, much love to you all.

Keep writing, remember the joys in life while they’re there to be had, laughter makes life brighter, and love is essential to a happy life…the love from family, friends, your significant other, and you must love yourself. ❤

Random Thoughts

I love my family. We’re a bunch of nuts, fight sometimes, don’t even talk often at all to some, and we so have our share of issues, but they mean everything to me. Family, blood or not, you’re in my heart now and forever.

15 days until my birthday, oh my gosh, so excited!!!!! This is going to be the best birthday EVER!!!!!! I am excited to spend the time with so many friends whom I love dearly. And for the first time ever, I will be with someone, someone I love with all of my heart, someone who is beyond wonderful. I have an amazing support system through the bad times who is a great crew to laugh and celebrate with. Oh yes, good times WILL be had….beginning on the 14th and ending on the 19th as I drag my tired and over partied self to sleep lol. I look forward to the laughter, the smiles, the pictures, the singing, the hugs, the food, the drinks, the music, and most of all the love.

Grandma is so infuriating to deal with sometimes, but I love her more than words could ever say. I owe this to her and even to myself to stick with this, with her. I am going to give it all I have for as long as humanly possible to keep her at home, to make sure she knows she is loved, to make sure she’s taken care of. I will only step back when I know there’s nothing more I can do and I am stubborn, so it’s going to take an awful lot for that to happen. She is my grandma, gave life to my mother and uncles. She’s spoiled me endlessly for years and still does when she can. She’s been the typical grandma in many aspects. But, she has also been another mom since I was 17 years old. She has yelled at me, put me in my place, helped me, encouraged me, and loved me through so many hard times. She was an amazing support during my pregnancy and the whole Jason thing. She’s been simply amazing. And, she is my friend. I can talk to her about so many things. We make each other laugh and I honestly like hanging out with her. If I should live to see her pass, it would be the hardest thing I ever had to deal with. Losing her would be losing a piece of myself. But, I am not focused on that. I am focused on the here and now. She is still here and I want to make the most of that. ♥
